About Recoleta Font
Recoleta is a retro serif typeface designed by Jorge Cisterna and published in 2018 by Latinotype, an independent type foundry from Chile. The design revisits the warm display lettering of the 1970s: it takes the soft, rounded shapes of classics like Cooper and combines them with the fluid, angled strokes of Windsor, resulting in a font family that feels nostalgic and contemporary at the same time.
The Recoleta typeface quickly became Latinotype's best selling font and one of the most recognizable typefaces in modern branding. Its friendly curves and generous proportions make it a natural choice for logos, packaging, editorial design and social media, for any project that needs personality without losing legibility. Lighter weights work well in text settings, while the heavier cuts are built for high impact headlines.
Styles & Weights
The Recoleta font family includes 15 styles organized in two subfamilies. Recoleta Basic covers seven upright weights, from the delicate Thin and Light through Recoleta Regular, Medium and SemiBold to the expressive Recoleta Bold and Recoleta Black, plus a free Regular demo for testing.
Recoleta Alt mirrors the same seven weights with alternate characters, including a single story a, that give logos and short headlines a more distinctive look.
Recoleta does not include italics: it is an upright, display driven design. Use the type tester above to compare every weight, or open the full glyph set to explore each style of the family in detail.
Recoleta Font Pairing
Recoleta has a strong personality, so it pairs best with clean, low contrast companions. Geometric and grotesque sans serifs are the most reliable match: in real-world projects, Recoleta is often combined with families such as Texta, Darwin Office, or Neogrotesk for interfaces and body text, while Recoleta takes the headlines.
For a technical accent, a monospaced font works well in captions and small details.Geometric and grotesque sans serifs are the most reliable match: in real world projects, Recoleta is often combined with families such as Texta, Darwin Office or Neogrotesk for interfaces and body text, while Recoleta takes the headlines.
As a general rule, let Recoleta carry the display sizes and choose a neutral partner for paragraphs; two typefaces with strong curves tend to compete with each other.
